Trainee Retrofit Designer
£25,000–£29,500 | NG8
SERT is seeking a recent graduate in architecture or the built environment to join our team as a Trainee Retrofit Designer. This is an exciting office-based role in NG8 for candidates with a strong interest in domestic retrofit design, building physics, and sustainable building solutions.
If you have experience using AutoCAD, InDesign, and other design software, and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, this role offers the opportunity to develop your career in retrofit design, planning applications, and PAS2035 and PAS2030 compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Produce technical drawings, including floor plans and thermal bridging details in AutoCAD.

Prioritise workload to meet project pipelines, liaising with internal stakeholders, installers, and customers.

Keep up-to-date with industry developments in retrofit design, including PAS2035, PAS2030:2023, and RdSAP assessments.

Maintain and continually develop internal design templates.

Support the planning permission and approvals process for Community Home Solutions, including submitting planning applications and liaising with local authorities and households as required.

Build and maintain strong relationships with local authority planning teams to understand requirements across the core councils we work with.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Essential:

Degree in architecture, built environment, or a related field.

Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop.
Desirable:

Experience in domestic retrofit projects and PAS2035 applications.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
