Permanent M&E Technician – Data Centre (Reading, UK) | SERT Careers

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems in a state-of-the-art Reading data centre, including power, cooling, UPS, and BMS equipment

• Ensure 24/7 data centre uptime by supporting mission-critical infrastructure with zero tolerance for errors

• Collaborate with technical teams, contractors, and site managers to coordinate maintenance and repairs

• Log maintenance activities and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards

Requirements

• Proven M&E background, ideally in data centre or critical environment maintenance (FM experience or blue-chip FM environment preferred)

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 certification in Electrical or Mechanical engineering (M&E disciplines)

• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, reliability, and a commitment to high standards

• Experience with building management systems (BMS), generators, chillers, or other critical infrastructure equipment

• Positive attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to work flexible hours (overtime and on-call shifts) when needed
