Location: Taunton – TA5 – Covering Somerset and surrounding areas
Salary: Up to £32,500 + £3,600 car allowance + performance-based bonus

Role Overview – Retrofit Assessor in Somerset
Join the sustainability team as a Retrofit Assessor, where your role will be to carry out detailed housing surveys, EPC assessments, and retrofit evaluations for social housing stock across Somerset and the South West. You’ll work closely with the Head of Net Zero, making meaningful contributions to energy efficiency improvements.
This role is ideal for either a recent surveying graduate looking to develop hands-on experience or a candidate with existing retrofit assessment or domestic energy background.
Key Responsibilities – Retrofit Assessor Vacancy TA5

Conduct property visits throughout Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil, and wider Somerset

Manage and attend appointments using Outlook or booking apps

Perform comprehensive property inspections, focusing on energy efficiency, EPC ratings, and compliance
-
Identify urgent issues including damp/mould, health and safety concerns, or structural defects
-
Use tablet-based software to collect building condition and survey data
-
Maintain clear communication with clients, office teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery
Ideal Candidate Profile

A graduate in building surveying or construction

Someone with experience in PAS2035, domestic energy assessments, or property inspections

Essential Requirements

Degree-level qualification in Building Surveying or related field – or equivalent experience in retrofit, energy, or construction

Full UK driving licence and personal vehicle (car allowance and mileage provided)

Willingness to travel around Somerset and the South West

Able to pass a standard DBS background check
